Alaska Dream Vacation

Fodor's Travel:
"Gwin's roadside establishment is the epicenter of much of the activity on the peninsula and a one-stop shop for visitors and locals alike, providing food, lodging, and fishing tackle ... The travel agency can book fishing, hiking, rafting, and other adventure travel anywhere on the peninsula. The lodge is the fishing headquarters of prospective anglers during the annual salmon runs on the nearby Russian and Kenai rivers."
Barefoot Guides:
"The Kenai Peninsula is Alaska's Playground"
Best Trip Choices:
"The peninsula serves as the Alaska sampler because it has the wildlife; the dramatic glaciers, mountains and wilderness; multipurpose rivers; a fjord-lined coast — plus churches, mining towns and other attractions associated with Alaska’s settlement story."
"Rich in gold mining, early settlers and Alaska Native history, Cooper Landing has long been a destination for serious anglers wanting easy access to the Russian and Kenai rivers and Skilak and Kenai lakes for trophy salmon, trout and a host of other species."

For many, Alaska represents a dream vacation destination. There is so much to see and experience in Alaska that a trip to Alaska shouldn't be put off.

One of the most popular Aslaska destinations is the Kenai Peninsula, known as "Alaska's Playground." There are so many outdoor recreation options here even Alaskans come here for fun. The Kenai Peninsula features Chugach National Forest, Kenai Fjords National Park, and Kenai National Wildlife Refuge. The Kenai Peninsula features scenic mountains, hills, lakes, rivers, beaches, forests, and flat land. Many parks, trails, and public lands are available for recreation purposes. Some outdoor recreation activities include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, drift rafting, whitewater rafting, wildlife viewing, panning for gold, clamming, saltwater fishing, etc.

Of course, the Kenai Peninsula is best-known for its world class salmon fisheries, the Kenai and the Russian Rivers. Some of the popular fishing spots can be lined elbow-to-elbow with fishers, given rise to the term "combat fishing." These are spectacles in themselves.

Different seasons on the Kenai Peninsula give rise to different beauty on the flora and fauna on the Kenai Peninsula. Each season is adorned with its own beautiful foliage and wildflowers. Around every turn on the highway and behind every mountain is breathtaking scenery and photogenic wildlife. Gwin's Lodge is blessed to have mountains at its back, the Kenai River  at its front, and surrounded by tall spruce trees. The Kenai Peninsula would be a photographer lover's dream destination.
